Apple working on "the biggest camera jump ever" for the next iPhone, says John Gruber

According to John Gruber, Apple is working on the "biggest camera jump ever" for the next gen iPhone which will be unveiled some time next year. John says this in the recent episode of "The Talk Show" podcast! John says that he got this information "from a birdie of a birdie" .

He says

The specific thing I heard is that next years camera might be the biggest camera jump ever. I don’t even know what sense this makes, but I’ve heard that it’s some kind of weird two-lens system where the back camera uses two lenses and it somehow takes it up into DSLR quality imagery.
The two-lens system isn't completely new however only HTC has messed around with this system on their current flagship phone HTC One M8. The second lens is meant to capture more image information and essentially use that information in post production for example, you can refocus after the image has been taken or de-blur the image etc. The uses are many however, the implementation for such a camera system still needs a bit of work.

This new camera system is quite exciting. Even with an 8 MP sensor on iPhone 6, the camera performs better than most other flagship android devices with 16 MP sensors. It will be quite exciting to know how Apple implements this new camera system in the next gen iPhone.
