Why I will not move to Android Devices anytime soon?

Well first of all I think Android is an awesome operating system and the speed at which google is updating Android is just mind blowing. After every few months a new major update comes for Android. However, alot of people(including my school friends) ask me why I don't like Android, and I will try my best to answer this question in this article.

First of all, I absolutely love the stock android operating system that runs on Nexus devices. However, the skins that different companies use to personalize the android is just stupid. This is going to be my number one reason. Just look at the Amazon's Kindle Fire HD. It's running Android but it is overly themed/skinned. Themes make the whole operating system really slow and laggy.

Next upgrade policies. More than 55% android devices are running Gingerbread 2.3 Gingerbread is 2-3 years old software. Less than 15% devices are currently running Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly 4.1.Why? Well because firstly the manufactures have to push the software update to their devices. For example, if Google releases Android 4.3 , the Nexus devices will be the first one to get the update because Nexus is a pure Google phone. However some one using Samsung S3 or HTC One X, he or she has to wait for the manufactures (in this case Samsung or HTC) to push the software update.

Lastly, and probably the most important reason why I will never use android device is the App Market. App market has two problems.

1. Apps for Tablet:
For example if you are running Nexus 10 or Galaxy Tab 10.1, you will not be able to get that many tablet optimized app. Mostly there are mobile apps that are stretched to fit the tablet's 10" display. When compared to iOS there are more than 250,000 apps just for the iPad.

2. App Quality:
Now this is not a deal breaker but the app quality is not that good in Android Market Place when compared to iOS. But again this is something I believe is not a big reason since there are many apps making their way to Google Play Store that are better and snappier.

So these are the reasons why I will not move to Android any time soon. However, if I decide to go for an Android Smartphone then it will most likely be Nexus 4.
