Microsoft offers refund to paid Office 365 Subscribers.

So last week, Microsoft made Office for iPhone/iPad free which means those who purchased the Office 365 Personal or Office 365 Home subscription can now get a refund. However, there is a catch. Microsoft is only offering refunds to those who subscribed to Office 365 on or after 27th March 2014 and you are allowed to ask for refund till 31st January 2015.

The whole procedure of getting a refund will take 6 to 8 weeks though the procedure to ask for refund depends wether you have purchased the subscription through iPad or from Microsoft website. If you have purchased the subscription from Apple via iPad then you have to contact the iTunes Store Support for assistance. If you purchased the subscription from Microsoft or any other seller except Apple, you can apply and get a pro-rated refund on the remaining unused days “between the date of cancellation and the date that your Office 365 subscription ends.”

Microsoft also states that you may need to  provide proof-of-purchase as well. However, Microsoft does remind their subscribers of the benefits associated with Office 365 Home & Personal! Benefits may include:

  1. 1TB of OneDrive storage space for backup
  2. Free 60 minutes of Skype minutes for making international calls every month
  3. unlock premium features on the Office apps for the iPad and iPhone and more.
